China is in the process of updating two crucial standards – the cornerstone of its food labeling regulation. Two non-final drafts were disclosed at the end of December 2018, and they seem to introduce several important modifications concerning:

  • QUID for ingredients;
  • Positive and negative claims;
  • Allergenic ingredients labeling;
  • Additive declaration
  • mandatory content of nutritional label;
  • exemptions to nutritional labeling;
  • error ranges in nutritional declaration;
  • Recommended serving;
  • allowed nutritional claims (content, comparative, function);
